Club life and community spirit
The village community is at the heart of Ruppendorf and is characterised by a special sense of commitment. For generations, residents have been working hand in hand on shared projects – this spirit of togetherness has long been part of the village’s “DNA”.
Today, there are 28 clubs and initiatives dedicated to, among other things, organising festivals, maintaining the moated castle, and creating hiking trails. A look back at the village’s history shows that this helpfulness has a long tradition:
- 1580: The “Ruppendorfer Gemein” already appears on a map from 1580 – here, meadows were cultivated communally and the village cattle were cared for.
- 1869: Through petitions to the local council, residents prevented the planned complete demolition of the ruins.
- 1924: The construction of the first gymnasium was a community project and quickly became a social and sporting hub.
- 1959: With great dedication, the culture and sports park was created – a venue for events and communal celebrations to this day.
- 1999: Construction of the handball court by the residents of Ruppendorf and many local companies.
- 2024: Exactly 100 years after the construction of the first gymnasium, the residents of Ruppendorf founded a future workshop where current projects are planned and realised together.
Whether organising a village festival or modernising playgrounds – in Ruppendorf, people know each other, help each other, and strengthen their sense of community. Visitors to our village immediately sense the calm, welcoming atmosphere and the strong feeling of belonging that is passed down from generation to generation.
