Our village is located in the Eastern Ore Mountains, 26 kilometers southwest of Dresden, nestled in the agriculturally shaped landscape between 364 and 497 meters altitude.
Since its first documentary mention in 1349 as "Ropotendorf", Ruppendorf has been telling history. The preserved tower of the former moated castle – once a border fortress between the Burgraviate of Dohna and the Margrave of Meissen – remains our distinctive landmark to this day.
