Station 24Decorative Arch
The Ruppendorf Schwibbogen arch at the bus turning point is a very special highlight during the Christmas season. Since its inauguration on December 1, 2012, it has impressed visitors with its length of seven meters and height of almost four meters as one of the largest Schwibbogen arches in the Ore Mountains. It was created thanks to the commitment of the “Ruppendorfer Schwibbogen” citizens’ initiative and numerous villagers and craftsmen. The artistic motifs depict both the Christmas story and local landmarks, such as the moated castle and the Ruppendorf church.
Every year, the Schwibbogen is festively “lit” and forms the highlight of a small, atmospheric Christmas market that attracts visitors from near and far. Come by and let yourself be enchanted by the contemplative atmosphere and the sparkling lights!
The Schwibbogen can be seen between the beginning of December and the end of January. The rest of the time it is stored away.
